1959-1962 · Catania: his school

He moved to Catania and attended the National Art Institute. Here he knew and appreciated the generosity of the teachers that he always loves to remember: Pippo Giuffrida, Carmelo Comes and above all Francesco Ranno, who watched over him and encouraged him for all three years of the school cycle. In the evening he also attended a school of artistic craftsmanship where he learnt mosaic and stained glass window techniques and had an opportunity to consult a big book on Leonardo Da Vinci all the time. In the summer he participated in a first collective exhibition with prizes organized by “Student youth”. His Farmer’s rest won the first painting prize.
